The compliance landscape changed significantly between 2020 and 2025. NIS2 extended obligations to thousands of organizations that had never formally managed information security. The AI Act introduced risk classification requirements that cut across existing GDPR and ISO frameworks. DORA created specific resilience obligations for financial entities and their suppliers.
Each regulation arrived with its own terminology, its own control requirements, and its own audit expectations. Most organizations responded the only way they knew how: by adding a new workstream, hiring a new consultant, or buying a point solution.
We saw a different problem. The controls were largely already there. What was missing was structure, visibility, and a way to connect existing work to the requirements that demanded it.
